Abstract: There's no need to add decorative stone to the walls of a house in Utah.

The house was "built directly on the side of a mountain," explains Nancy Birchell, agent for RealtyONEGroup Signature-Vernal." The walls of the main living room, under the staircase and behind the master bath tub are covered in the natural rock of Dry Fork Mountain.

The home in Dry Fork Canyon sits on 45 acres in Vernal, Utah, and is listed for $1.35 million.

The owners "purchased land in the area specifically for something this interesting and developed plans and engineering for this specific purpose," Birchell said.

Construction began in 2018, and the 4,938-square-foot home is due for occupancy in 2021.

But the place still needs some finishing touches.

The white walls are just primed. The built-ins in the wardrobes are unfinished, as is the trim on the doors.Birchell said the owner purchased tile for the backsplash and left it for the next owner to install.

"Once someone finishes all the little things, it's sure to be a pretty good masterpiece," she said. "The right buyer can use those details to turn it into their own masterpiece," she says."

The home has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, radiant heated floors and takes full advantage of all that nature has to offer.

"The views are spectacular," Birchell confirms." In the great room along the kitchen, walls of glass fold into each other and lead to a wrap-around deck on the main floor. The same type of wall is found in the master bedroom, which also leads out onto the deck."

Birchell saw the house during the building process, but says she is still amazed at its current state.

"It's an amazing moment," she said, noting that the photos don't do the property justice." What is incredible and hard to describe is that someone was able to design and build it and make it as beautiful as it is now. The rocks are very warm to the touch."

In addition to the renovation materials they left behind, the owners pass around snow removal equipment to make the nearby roads passable in the winter. But Birchell says the place prefers other seasons.

"It really is a great spring, summer and fall home," she says." I can see it being someone's summer getaway and just enjoying everything Dry Fork and Vernal have to offer, loving the seclusion of the home and the fact that it's a big family gathering place."

The house takes up only a small portion of the estate's large lot.

"A lot of it is hilly, so I would classify it as recreational land," Birchell says." You can hike up the hill, and there are lots of trails there."

She notes that the area is particularly special on rainy days.

"You have waterfalls that flow down the side of the mountain and into the canyon," she says.
